SS Feldgendarmerie visor cap weird wool color

    Hi guys!

I found this weird repro cap as an SS feldgendarmerie crusher visor cap on ebay but I do not remember seeing an original SS feldgendarmerie with that kind of earth-grey color wool before.

Did anyone had already seen that kind of wool color on an ORIGINAL WWII German visor cap before? Or is this just a color fantasy from our Asian friends... Just curious to know for my own education.

    Thanks for any opinions.

After some research in the Beaver's book Uniform of the Waffen -SS Vol.1, it appears that earth-gray wool tunics were manufactured early in the pre-war era (around 1935), were used by SS-VT units mainly and were progressively abandonned after orders from Himmler for a more standard field-gray color. Color of those early tunics closely match the cap's color.

But still, even if officers were wearing those earth-gray tunics in period pictures, they were wearing the black visor cap of the SS. If these were ever produced, they should be pretty early pre-war examples.
