          looks like an original ZOLL (customs) bergmutze ive seen them both with full and partial sweatbands at least the army insignia was added post war imo
          Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
          teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

            Lenny most likely correct..MAYBE could have been done period by soldier looking for extra warmth cap..Billbert
