Lovely caps Dave.
I quite like the pre parade photo that you've shown. We see so many photographs and film of troops on parade but the preparations before a large parade are also very interesting. The troops are relaxed, some smiling and maybe a little bit nervous, their helmets by their sides ready to don before having to snap into the stiff military look that we all know so well.

I agree. I'm sure as soon as the "dance" started those caps would be replaced with Stahlhelms. I imagine the nearby infantrymen standing in line with full field packs were slightly envious of the cavalrymen's relaxed attitude and attire...and the fact they would be riding rather than marching in the parade.
