    "Totenkopf" helmet

    Dear Robin,

Did you have a look at Ludwig Baer's book (singular as I still have an old edition)? I f I am right he shows examples of similar helmets. The big problem is of course to find photographic evidence for the very pattern you have.

One explanation could be Freikorps Hacketau (but the M16 helmet shown doesn't fully match with the period photograph).

Another try would be a Finish helmet (M16 as well as M35/40 were used) of the Winter War during the Soviet Union. I even heard or maybe read a theory about Finish stormtroops (of a so called Blue Brigade?) wearing this helmet.

    Nothing very clear, only suppositions...

    Regards
    Gilles

I missed out on the auction, but here's one that I'm pretty sure isn't regulation:

            HI All,

Nice items!!! Here is a field made M 43 I have. It came from a household liquidation with an SS photo album and some other SS related stuff.

            Best regards,
            Al

Last pic. The interior is made of the silver-grey HBT often used as lining material in SS jackets.
