This cap looks like a late war possibility to me. Late war zinc buttons are silver painted, with a standard enlisted M43 trap. The later war officers piping is metallic.
Leather forehead partial sweatband is unmarked, other than the decorative edging embossed along it's length. You can feel the shaped cardboard bill, and the centering notch used to align the bill in construction. Liner material is an artificial silk, and the pull down straps are a standard silky HBT (not the Italian type).
The bill is very short, but no edelweiss nor signs of one. It smells old, with signs of age but very light wear.
Is this a good one? It's pretty clear from my last cap that there are some definate GJ headgear collectors out there, so wouuld appreciate a review.
Regards, Robert
