Super early Erel officer's Kleiderkasse cap

Not too long ago, stonemint pointed to this cap in a different thread and it was also pictured in the Wilkins book. It sold through Ebay USA and now found it's way back to Germany. I am aware that most collector's here prefer the stuff that bears the swastika but I am simply excited about this super rare piece of history. It obviously never had an eagle attached and the cockade is a hint that this was last worn right after the National Socialists took power in Germany and before eagles were put on the caps.

The best part about it is that it is clearly an officer's visor sold through the Kleiderkasse (so it's safe to assume Erel worked with the Kleiderkasse in the Weimar Republic already). Think of how many true officer's there were in an Army of 100,000. How many of these wore this Waffenfarbe, how many of those caps were not equipped with a new National symbol and how many of those survived the war and the (almost 80) years since then.

I know most of you won't go crazy about this cap but I figured I post it for those of you who care and for educational purposes.

    Kurt

When I recieved it, the red felt was missing inside the cockade... it's still the original cockade with the felt replaced...

Beautiful cap! By coincidence I was just looking at the example in the Wilkins book last night.

                              Hello Kurt,

                              Congrats
A very nice early EreL-cap. Indeed it's almost a miracle that such a cap survived

                              Regards,

                              RudoLf
