                  From the pics, it is a dead ringer for an Alteste (but admittedly, better pics would help). Nevertheless, the photos absolutely reveal Alteste tell-tale signs: the lining color, center seam appears off-center, and the fact that they had a narrow black band; notice that the wreath is too big for the black band.

                  Is this your hat Steiner? I've been looking for one for a long time, so I'd love to chat with you. Feel free to PM me.

                  Karl, thanks for the PM. Since I am not a member of the website, any chance there is a description that you can forward to me for this hat; namely, size, condition, and price? Is it an auction or direct sale? Again, many thanks my friend.                       Here's the listing from the ad. Here's the so called makers mark.

                      This is a original WWII German Luftwaffe Officers Visor hat.
                      All insignia is bullion.It has a maker mark inside as pictured.It is in excellent used condition.
                      No moth holes.It came out of a large old collection.I have black lighted it & nothing glows.Guaranteed original.
