                      Nice hat. Were the eagles on these all hand sewn, or some machine sewn?

                            "Lago-Berlin" caps seem to always have hand applied insignia but the backround color of the insignia often varies. The following combinations are possible;

                            1/ White on dark green backed eagle with dark green backed cockade
                            2/ Grey on dark green backed eagle with dark green backed cockade
                            3/ White on black backed eagle with dark green backed cockade
                            4/ Grey on black backed eagle with dark green backed cockade
                            5/ White on black backed eagle with black backed cockade
                            6/ Grey on black backed eagle with black backed cockade
                            7/ White on dark green backed eagle with black backed cockade
                            8/ Grey on dark green backed eagle with black backed cockade

                            Some of these combinations are what is commonly seen for this maker where as others combinations are rare. One could thus conclude that they were applying whatever insignia was in the bin at the time and they placed their hand on as they were sewing it on. Certainly a manufacturer who used a lot of dark green backed eagles & cockades in the production of their black Panzer M40 sidecaps and this reflects nicely the co-operative, association production, cottage industry and slightly variable product in minor ways of LAGO production.
