    SA Kepì Berlin

Hallo, here is another piece from my collection.
This is an SA kepì for the Berlin Gruppe (black cloth and silver button).

This cap is an interesting one due to some features.
First it was born as a generic all brown kepì and the black cloth was added later to fit the new SA regulations in the middle of the thirty.
Second it has some non-regulation features such as the metal ware.
Third is an huge size, the biggest I've ever seen...surely a 61/62!

The big frontiside button is peebled such as the side buttons. This wasn't allowed by regulations (the frontiside buttin should be smooth and the side buttons brown painted) . Even the metal buckes on the leather chin strap are silver instead of brown painted. all metals are matching and it emans that the cap was born in this way...who knows way. Anyway I saw others with these bizarre features.

Inside view: fine quality silk-like lining and anti-pressure system identify this cap as a private purchase. unfortunally someone has erased something with a black ink

Let's take a look under the swatband: there are traces of foam all around the cap's circunference. A good anti-pressure system.

Maybe a Pekuro going by the stirndruckfrei feature, did Pekuro make Kepis?

yes, he did, but this is not a pekuro...the system is not the same stirndruck.
First, Pekuro used black velvet to pad, this one is something like black cotton...evne the stitching does not match. Second, Pekuro never used a total circular foam pad around the cap. Third, Pekuro used always a celluolid swatshield on the top panel of his kepis, this one of mine never had one.
