Nicely made but a reproduction IMO.

Strange it seems ti fit all the criteria as excepted on this forum, or not? Bias tape on the fold down flap, machine sewn insignia, and the sweat band stitch above the visor securing the band behind the liner. I understand 'I don't like it", but what is it you guy's think is bad? All the hats I posted came from one individual and sold to a good friend before he moved. If you like I can name him, maybe this will give credence to them? Please be more specific, these are very expensive hats and justice must be done if bad. Thank you, Dave.

Dave, it might be technicaly correct but that doesn't make it original. I can't explain in words what to look for because most of it comes down to instinct learn't from handling a lot of originals. What I can say though is look at lining and stamps in particular, do they seem authentic to you? Now compare the whole cap with the Bergmutze, see any similarities in construction, sewing style, wear of the wool, buttons etc etc.

I would bet you a 100 dollars both caps were made by the same person. How do I know? I don't for sure but my gut is telling me that is the case and that's what it comes down to most of the time, gut feelings based on experience. I know that isn't very helpful when it comes to trying to explain to someone looking for solid evidence that the item is fake. However, sometimes there is no "smoking gun" to find and you just have to trust in the people who know what they are talking about.

In the case of M43 caps for instance, if Glenn for one, has doubts, you'd be wise to listen because there are not many other people in the World who has handled more M43's than him. But I bet Glenn could not give you a list of what's wrong with the cap, he just KNOWS it isn't right.

Sewing styles are not the same, completely different materials for the linings, the ink stamps are no where the same, the buttons are a different shade of field grey, and are of different manufactures. Now accepting Glenn's word as gospel because "he can't make a list he just knows'. Sorry I been around this Hobby for 40 or plus years, when someone asks me 'why do you think it's fake'? I don't reply, 'It's simply because I know'. Now that being said. Thank you, Dave. P.S. Benedicts M43 a few threads down is very similar in construction. P.S. Benedicts M43 a dozen or so threads down looks very similar in construction.

I would not accept my word as Gospel either,it is just my opinion....I could make a list of things that I don't like, but I seldom do on a public Forum and that is my choice, like it or not...I don't care for the "Benedict" M43 hat either, let's just say I would choose not to own it.

So far all of the hats you posted today are in my opinion,fake.... If I owned them I would be seeking some sort of compensation from the seller if at all possible.

Thanks for your kind words Ben,but probably best directed towards say Mr Singer,Mr Davis,Mr Lenny W,Mr Stezelberger,Mr Billbert, etc and of course yourself.(please forgive me if I am leaving anyone else out)

Absolutely, but of course Dave would obviously not be happy with one of Bryon's "I could entertain a doubt" responses either.

Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.
