      Chris,

The cross on the "Kokarde" is a typical cross for reservists. I just bought a similar "Kokarde" at last show in Stuttgart (see enclosed picture). Furthermore I noticed that the eagle is an early type one. I remember that Helmut Weitze was offering a similar resevist Lw-visor cap on his webpage for EUR 850.-.

      Hope this helped you.

      Ciao,

      Claudio

I was aware of it being a reservist for Army officers, did not know it existed for LW as well.
Guess it was staring me in the face....

To back up what Claudio said, if you have "Headgear of Hitler's Germany" Vol. I, look on page 252. It's a pic of such a visor being worn, plus on page 251 is a small blurb about it's use.

There's also a Luftwaffe reserve cockade like this in the endlessly reprinted Assmann catalog of circa 1937-1938.

              Tabs

              Chris,

Can you tell from the photo if the officer is wearing reserve collar tabs? That is something I have yet to see --- but mostly because it is so hard to tell in these old black & white photos. Plus, the color of the waffenfarbe can be difficult to discern.

              Thanks for the photo ...
