                  Tough to tell from these pics. General construction appears to be okay, and the wool is convincing, but something tells me post war assembled.

                    I think that the eagle has been put on it professionally. But not originally. The wear on the cap and on the eagle just don't match.

                              I like this cap very much. From what I can tell from computer images, there is something about that wool which says original 1944. I like the construction and the wear pattern as well.

                              Would need a hands on to be sure but my vote at this stage is original pre-May 45,
