I have an infantry visor cap by this same maker with full bullion insignia. Same rough wool; same cheap sweatband. It also has the same woven label, but the lining is in dark blue.

Herr Krebs obviously wished to put more money into his "billboards" than his sweatbands--all I have seen to date have been the ersatz type:

Another TR puzzle. Very average quality wools, ersatz bands, not the best looking visors but yet bullion insignia (which actualy cost quite a bit more during the period) and huge "billboards" as already mentioned.
I find it fascinating comparing makers because it seems to me that although Krebs didn't make the nicest hats, they must have a had one hell of a marketing and sales manager.

Nice type cap to add to a collection. If the war had gone their way, the owner might have taken it back and asked to have the cap or at least the sweatband replaced!
