I participated in that thread. It showed that very cap...
A leather Weimar era "Reichswehr" cap...(late 20's marked), a carry over style from ww1 driver's caps... which was updated with early wehrmacht insignia...
      apparently done early-mid 30's...

The photo caption reads "nebel soldat"...smoke screen soldier...

Correct! Its not a third reich era piece...The one with the images removed was 1928 dated if I remember correctly.

One of those hats was discussed on the german "Militaria Fundforum"(it is in german and you only can see pictures when logged in):
              http://militaria-fundforum.com/showt...t=36371&page=2

There are several pictures as a forum member ownes one. It is the Reichswehr cap with early style Wehrmacht insignia applied. Great cap!

I will not post the pictures here, because it is not mine and the owner should decide where to show them.

You can also see pictures here, but you have to logged in also. (It's free)
It's a German Forum with a great visior cap archiv.
