              looks nice

looks good IMO, very similar to this one (to my untrained eyes), possibly the same maker, though mine had no mark.

Nice original, but looks to have some repair to the SB/visor area. It looks like you can see some threads there on Sb/Visor area. Have any info on this area?

Can you read/translate the German in the stamping under the sweatband? Just curious as my eyes (or German) aren't good enough to make it out.

They may have been made by the same manufacturer but that would be purely coincidence. They are both 'Contract' manufactured issue caps meaning they are designed to all look the same. Sometimes a whole batch was unit acceptance stamped most however weren't.

                          new knowledge

So thats what a contract cap looks like, thanks for the info. I've had a few visors, but never new the details. Must have been lucky, as the only dud that I know I had, was a freebie. They all went to others, except I've still got the dud freebie.
Some of the stuff I've read on this and other forums amazes and astounds me. I know a lot about some things, but nothing compared to the levels of knowledge of some forum members.
Mind you, if you want to know about late Iron age & Norse pottery from the outer hebrides, you know who to ask?

                          Thanks, JerryBB

ps. another pic of my ex
