    tropical cap, opinions please

    I can't post pics, only scans -camera broken- but I would value opinions on the metal air vents. I think its french made, of a very light weight cotton fabric and very well constructed. It has a blank name tag inside, made of the same material as the main body of the cap. It has gold coloured cellulon tress around the top and the front of the fake scallop.
    I realise that the sides of the peak are a bit flatter than on the issue german made examples.
    The red lining material is also not the same as german examples, though I think there is some variation between manufacturers, and also it could be french fabric.

              heer general

              I think its a Heer generals, but I cant post pics as my camera got drowned and died when we went up a mountain in Wales the other week.
              The scans show the crucial part on a trop cap, the vents and these have always looked good to me.
              Thanks for the opinions so far and in two weeks, maybe sooner I'll post pics of the rest of it. It has no insignia.
              Any more opinions would be gladly accepted, even as it is.

                km officer or heer general

                Km officer trop caps have braid around the scallop and around the cap along the middle seam, heer generals or officers have the braid around the crown seam and on along the scallop.

                Here is 2 heer officers trop caps, not mine.

                      why not lufty?

                      Lufty trop caps have the braid in the same place as the heer, also use the same colours for officer or general, but they should not be lined in red in side the dome, so the location of the gold braid and the red lining, says this cap is a Heer Generals.
                      Opinions on its date is the question, the metal vents say TR period to me.

                        I think it has some real potential but again we need a lot more pics to make a sound judgement but like where its going. Shame about the insignia being gone but you can pick up the bullion and bring it back to its former glory if it comes out legit. Matt
