I need help with this one

    Hello all,

I need help with this one.
    No marks or stamps inside.
The inside is a sort of black silck all the way.

It came from a box with WWII items and everybody thinks it's German.

    Only one phot available.

I think most people would struggle to post an opinion from that photo! more pics, from all angles are required.

Though the shape of the scallop suggests SS and it looks black, so SS panzer, but whether its tr period or not is impossible to tell from the photo.

I am busy at the moment but will try to make more photos and post them as soon as possible.
SS items are SS-stamped most of the time. This one is in new condition and I can not find any stamps. So they can't be worn out.

Here a photo of the inside. All black and no marks or stamps.

Click on the photos to make them larger.
          From the side:

And from above (all black and nothing else but black):

Not true, if you see a cap with an SS stamp run away.

i agree with Ian and not crazy about the cap in the pics either
Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

I do not ask for being crazy about it but am in search of what this cap can be.
So I am still hoping for indications or someone who knows.

Is the cap black or a deep navy blue? Check it next to something absolute black in the sunlight.

                    Hello Peter,
I must say it is as black as black can be. But am willing to do the test again tomorrow.

                      Test done.
                      Result: colour is black indeed.

The cut of the cap is that of an SS M40 or KM Coastal Artillery (which would be green/grey obviously), having the 'artificial piping' seams to the top. You may like to look at this ... http://www.germanmilitaria.com/Waffe...s/S000961.html for an example of a typical lining material.

That kind of reply won't get you any learned help here or elsewhere, unless you consider Peter Manzie to be that

                          Hello Ian,

Thank you for the reply and link.
I see what you mean. But the difficulty is that the lines on the photo taken sideways are in a steady (bowed) line and my cap seems to make a sort of turn on the frontside. Another thing that keeps me busy is the fact that my cap has no marks, labels or stamps at all.

It came from a box with some smaller German items and some items from the NSB (Dutch socialists movement - supporters of the Nazi's).

I found out that this cap is not related to the NSB. So everybody now thinks it's German. Unfortunately I have no further background information.

                          About the quote:
If somebody is crazy about a girl he likes her. If somebody tells me he is not crazy about the cap, I translate that he does not like it. Ofcourse I also keep in mind that he may have suggested that it was not German in his point of view.
No offence here. Maybe I'd better placed a smily icon behind my line to point out that I was not angry or so.
But I do not often use smilies.

Indeed: closest to an M40 SS panzer cap.
