nice luftwaffe caps directly from the widow

please have a look on these two caps.
I got yesterday a nice lot of veteranes widow.
two caps, two daggers and I will also get the sword next week.
The caps are interesting because the leather strap normally doesn´t belong to the caps. Could something explain this?
what do you think about the caps?

I think the caps look good!! My Luft Em/NCO cap straps looks the same, minus the cracking in the leather but still, the bullion insignia is nice!

Bullion wreath on EM/NCO piped cap? Aren't field upgrades usually just the chin strap?

Strangely enough, these unusual configurations have not caused an interesting discussion, especially because there is a white-topped LW visor involved.

No problem about Frank and Stieve were period retailers, but I find that the observation of AdMan is well based.

I add that, in my personal (and certainly rebuttable) opinion of course, is quite odd that a retailer located in North-Western Germany and another in East Prussia (now Tschernjachowsk in the russian enclave of Kaliningrad), at the considerable distance of km. 909, have used two badges (rosettes, leaves and wings) almost equal, unless the vet has provided them directly and personally

Nice caps !

I think these caps were up-graded to Oberfaenrich by the owners tailor during war, they should have officers chin straps too, but I've seen quite some mixed insignias in this rank..
This rank meant that you could up-grade your NCO stuff with officers insignias, wearing off. belt etc..
Think they're fine..

I agree with you on this point, but, if this was the case, also the shots of the inner front side would be insufficient to ascertain the truth about these embroidered badges.

Maybe, only a very close inspection of the stitching

The caps are fine. Don't listen to the worriers. SENIOR NCO's in the Heer and Luftwaffe were permitted officer quality insignia.
