Hi everyone.
At last I decided to buy this cap ‘cause I’m deeply convinced of it’s
originality, even if it’s pink farbe color is really controversial.
I’ve opened, in the last weeks, several threads in several forum, to undertstand a little bit more about this rare “color”.
The upper part is in the typical grey material (I’ve compared with others I own) as well the mohair band. I’ve cheked carefully cm by cm the farbe
to check the color and I didn’t find any strange things.
The inner liner is in dark green rayon. The upper part is in a darker tone than the side panels .
The inner shield is in celluloid but is thicker than normal one, and very fragile almost impossible to bend without breaking it and it become a little yellow.
The thread is cotton (I've tried to burn a little piece), and I've tried to take some pics of the frontal stiffener but the result it has not been
as good as I would, but I didn't want to "stress" to much thread and fabric......but it is made by a thin metal sheet fixed to a pasteboard strip by metal clips.
The sweatband is in soft brown leather, machine sewn.
There are only three odd things;
a) The band is sewn in the behind of cap instead of the classical frontal one.
But I saw it on original caps, so ir doesn't worry me
b) The cap band is a little bit lower than the classical LW cap. mm 45
instead of mm 49.
c) The lower part of the visor is black, but I saw it on several original cap.
In general it has a very good “combat” form.
I know that for someone this cap shouldn’t exist ‘cause the engineers corp
is only associated to officer corps.
But seeing this example I’m convinced that “somebody” sported this farbe.
Now I wait for your opinions…..
Warmest regards
Giorgio
