An old friend recently left me for a new home, namely a black M43 cap. It didn't have any insignia on it but the ghost outline of a very big trapezoid was obvious to see. I never did restore it because I was unsure of whether it was an SS or Luftwaffe trap, i.e. making it a HG cap. It was most certainly not a regular Heer trap.
Anyway, it got me interested in the subject of HG black headgear again. There is very little information about this area on the forum and even less original examples posted.
The aim here is to try and fill in some of the blanks.
Chris posted an excellent thread on HG KC winner Karl Rossmann awhile back with some great photos including Rossmann wearing a black M43 with trap insignia. I'll post some of those photos here again for interest.

Any and all contributions of period photos and of course examples of original black HG headgear would be very much appreciated.
Well, makes a change from the "is it real?" threads!
Cheers
