Buckled caps photo study

I've found these "HJ style" field gray caps with buckle very interesting.
Patterned after the HJ wintermutze but fashioned in field gray
no doubt for armed forces use!
Obviously private purchase and unofficial... Thoughts? Examples?
Note the SS sleeve eagle mounted on the cap of the Heer soldier!

Not so good quality this one (poor scan)...
Similar cap with buckle and metal eyelets visible!
Note triangular "trap" insignia... so post 1943, eventhough its an early uniform !

Another example! This is a Flemish volunteer in SD/SiPo service working at the SD dienststelle in Leeuwarden Holland. Image from 1944.
He obviously had to leave Belgium which had recently been liberated by the allies! (image credit Frisian Archive)
Note besides the square buckle, also the metal SS schrimmutze insignia!

THIS FORUM is the culprit!

If you got that from a vet's footlocker and posted it here, you'd have:

"it's not for me."

"I can express a doubt."

etc etc and then TRY selling it, or even try showing it off to your friends. This place is unbeatable when you want to learn about the common, factory made stuff. Most fakes emulate common, factory made stuff so that's very valuable. The problem is that people are now terrified of anything that isn't 100% textbook so that every player here will give it a thumbs up.

Anybody want to deny this is true?

Exactly! That's why I love showing stuff like this! We have to keep an open mind with this hobby!
...but for a (risk free) safe bet and "best" investment value textbook is always the way to go....

True Nick... true. I collect by two measuring sticks:

1) I buy what makes me happy
2) I buy what I believe in

When I croak, the kids can sell my stuff and deal with the textbook only crowd!
