      Well

My point is that i don´t understand how can Mr Niemann put his reputation and Name with a uncertain item.

I agree that the leather strap seems to be a replacement, but, what about the peak, pipping, diamond, liner.... I don´t like specially the cap, but arguments are always welcome.

Could it be possible that this is a WW1 arty cap? Those things are hard to tell apart from originals although I think their piping is more pinkish

Well if you think everything he sells is untouched originals you are very much mistaken. Jacques

The COA business is easy. You put your reputation on the line and you stick to it if people return the item. Does the COA have lifetime guarantee and is it transferable to new buyers and does it offer a full refund to anyone who ever owns it from the issuer of the COA.

If it doesn't, that is the reason that COA's are worthless.

If the COA says lifetime refund to anyone, why doesn't the ebay seller just sell it back to the issuer and claim it is duff.. I don't like this cap personally, the reason, a kind of hunch as the old US detective shows used to say. You get a feeling with these, when you start justifying bits and bobs whilst asking for opinions that's when you leave it. There are no bargins out there for these, unless you happen to buy it off the old guy himself and YOU know its real. If real this would be worth a good sum of money and ebay is not the right place to market such a piece.

The higher peak at the front and the sweat diamond indicate it is not an Imperial era cap...

Because everyone cooks with water from the guys, also MR.Hamburg! So you will know its not the first bad COA and sure not the last, forget it!

                    Hi all

This debate has come to a standstill, during which time the cap is brought to more than a thousand euros (given the current prices, if true, a real deal !). Personally, I do not like it and, if interested, I am ready to explain why. But, where are our SS headgears' experts, seen that, even on SS forum, no one speaks with a clear view?

                    best regards

COA's? not worth the paper they're written on.

Detlev Niemann? just another dealer selling some good and some bad items like all the others.

The cap? Could be ok but I doubt it. No way to be 100% sure unless you handle it and even then, you just can't find the smoking gun sometimes so you have to rely on your gut feeling.

What else is there to say?
