If this doesn't make you cry...

I don't think I posted this before, and if I did I apologize.
I was visiting a museum in 2004 and the curator asked me if I wanted a better look at his "German crap". He opened this cabinet and I about crapped. Sitting on a pile of Lugers were 2 SS visors (direct vet donations), a foresty visor and another I did not immediately recognize, along with a pile of daggers, a MP-44, etc. He threw this stuff in a cabinet deliberately because he did not want to glorify the Germans.
Before you ask, I'd rather not mention where this is as the guy currently has enough problems.

Got a closet full of Naht-zee crap? Is the missus embarrased by the mess, not to mention the Sigrunes? Want it gone? Call (448) 363-6294! Same day pick up!

I wonder what the 'street value' of that cabinet is today...

Judging by his taste in artwork, I would agree he does have problems.

The visor sitting on the pile to the right of the Forestry visor is a Diplo visor--and worth about $7000 bucks....

This is a museum?? The Smithsonian perhaps? Reminds me of a pawnshop in a bad neigborhood in nearby Pensacola FL I was in a few years ago. I was browseing a junkshop of no return till I passed a 12 gun or so oak cabnet with a flickering flourecent light inside behind the counter. It was COMPLETELY full, standing room only,of WW2 Japanese shingunto and Edo period or earlier samurai swords! I'm a nihonto buff myself and asked to peak at a few, which the old couple obliged. Most were in primo shape,a few in civi monts needed tlc, musta been 60 or so crammed in there. I asked about prices, but they were not for sale,he's been collecting these from Pcola NAS Squids since after the war,and thinks they're "nifty"to have around. I think the man of the shop has passed on,but his 70+ wife still runs it with her kids, swords still there.....

I think the guy with the most cash on hand here who can travel should PM you to get the name and address of this place. I wish I was that guy but I am not. If this happens, PLEASE do the hobby a favor and give up the info. Cheapskates and dreamers should not be allowed access... low-balling this guy will make him mad and this stuff will never see the light of day again.

These things need to be saved and preserved RIGHT AWAY!

What a pathetic way to display, and preserve, these rare pieces of militaria!

If the guy feels so strongly about this "crap"... he should sell the lot... and give the money to charity.

                        Obviously... he doesn't.

                            stuff

I would be there everyday till he either got tired of seeing me and sold me what I wanted or called the police to run me off. There's no way I could let that stuff sit there without trying to pick off a few pieces. There must be something else going on here?? Alex
