I seem to remember that this uniform was discussed at length over several issues of "The Armourer" a while ago. Whilst the current owner seemed cautiously convinced that it was legit, virtually every commentator -giving to my mind very solid reasons- dismissed it.

There was some speculation that it might have been a film prop, specifically the uniform used in the 1960s movie "The Battle of Britain", and indeed someone who had worked on this film wrote in supporting this theory -the current owner didn't accept this, however.

Any unique high-end item should start with an assumption that it's fake, and then have to prove itself otherwise. From what is in the public domain about this uniform -in terms of detail, construction and provenance- it has to be a

    All the best

You will never convince the dealer that he has been taken. To do so would admit he got suckered, and he is obviously too smart for that. Besides...then he couldn't sell it as genuine, so he is stuck, with junk and standing behind it 100%.

I was going to suggest the same thing, this looks exatly like the uniform worn in the Movie and could very well be.

It is the one in Plymouth. That is where I work. Work in Plymouth, live in Suffolk - now there is a commute!

If I recall correctly, all the General LW visors in the "Battle of Britain" had gold instead of silver around the red bulls-eye.

Does it come wrapped in a pair of Hitler's underwear?

Totally agree 100% regarding Insignia...of the highest quality !

What is shown on display in pics does not resemble quality in my opinion.

I can't get into the site but it's hardly what you would call a militaria specialist.

I know this place well..its stuffed full of interesting bits and bobs but its all priced far too high. It seems that its all his private collection and he'd rather keep it all than sell it..hence the stupid prices. But to be fair all his other items do appear to be 100% genuine.

The Goering uniform also shares a cabinet with an "original" Charlie Chaplin outfit!
