    Luftwaffe general's visor for review

I posted a 'wanted to buy' ad in the bazaar for a reproduction Luftwaffe general's visor. I received these photos today, and I wonder if this one is a really good fake, or what. I'm not a fan of the hand stitching on the eagle, but as for the rest, I don't know enough to say for sure. Looks pretty convincing to my eye anyway.

Thanks for the input! I have to consider that it is about 1/120 of the price of an original, so I can actually afford it.

The owner of this cap thought it was really neat that the reproduction even includes a Schellenberg type staple holding the pasteboard together. This cap was built to decieve I would say!

I recall a quote wherein someone said “I post pics pointing out the flaws, I post pics for comparison, and I post detailed info regarding the maker. Unlike others on the forum who just spout off they don’t like something and never say why I go to the extreme to post legitimate reasons why something does not look right to me. ” Here: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...haracteristics

(I already welcomed you back Nick...) So, since I’m guessing Matt wouldn’t be disagreeable to actually ‘learning something’ versus hosting a welcome back Nick thread, how about some “detailed info”?

                            Thanx in advance, Rick C.

Sure Rick, these caps were produced in the late 80’s and 90’s and were made in Germany. They were always sold as repro’s until lately. I do believe one of the sellers of these was SoldatHQ.com. I am pretty sure Trades of the lost surplus had these at one time also. No need to go into details as they were meant to be reproductions.
