Did they exist and if so is there any proof ?

..ofcourse the only thing that would make them for generals would be a gold eagle..
I'm not aware of such eagle, hence the question.

Never saw one, which means very little.

If they did exist, they would have been a private purchase piece IMHO.

Nope Jos, haven't seen anyone either, sorry. Now I must say I'm not that strong in AK . So I don't know if my answer is of any help.

Well, any answer is welcome, Jan and till now none of the people I know have seen or know about a golden pith helmet eagle, not even John..
This indicates as much as there wasn't a pith helmet especially for luftwaffe generals..
So, if they grabbed one it must've been one with a silver eagle or no eagle ..IMO.

I've seen eagles which had lost their silver color and when polished they looked like gold, represented as being for general or gold painted ones, but none were the real deal.

Have not seen a LW Generals Pith with a golden Eagle either. Rommel wore a standard cloth Pith with the Herr shields as did the DAK Generals. Perhaps there is a photo of Kesselring wearin a Pith with the LW silver Eagle ?

Yup, for now I think there was only one pith helmet for all ranks..
