Luft General's white top for $8500??

I came across this cap while searching photos of caps. Is this a real bargain or another fraud?

    http://www.militarycollectiblesinc.c...t_Code=ha00384

After looking around his site I notice he 1) has a high opinion of the value of his caps and 2) has a lot of unissued eReL visors. Anyone have opinions on this site?

Assuming the caps are authentic, he has quite a remarkable selection. However, IMHO, the prices are INSANE: $1695 for a white top Luft Flight/Para cap, $3800 for a HG peaked cap!
Certainly, he can ask whatever price he wishes for his inventory, but I believe an astute, informed collector could find similiar items for MUCH less, at other dealers, or certainly on this site.

        Hey Matt,

I think the material of the white top is 'supposed' to be what pro's might call a "waffle pattern". While I suppose (and don't doubt) General's had anything they wanted 'made to order', I would simply put that out for you to consider and, perhaps, look into a bit more.

(of course, I could well be wrong - I'm just going by comments of folks with lots more experience than I have into it)

Let me clarify, I don't have anywhere close to $8500 to spend right now, I was just curious as to whether this one appeared to be authentic (or not).
Rick, I have seen the 'waffle top' on Luft caps before. Maybe this one is just 'different'?

Thanks for the opinions so far!

Just "different". By all means. I was only pointing out what the typical expectation was.

As for your not having $8,500 I would simply relate that now that Cash-for-Clunkers worked so well, the feds are thinking about Cash-for-Clunker-Appliances and, one never knows, they might eventually get around to Cash-for-Clunker-Militaria where we can all turn over our dead beat caps & repros & pick up these General's caps.

Have faith. The country wanted "change" & the Prez might just find Third Reich militaria as a means to "put Americans back to work". Let's email him - the whole membership!

Actually, I like what I see (so far), but need to see under the hood/trunk, etc. The logo is one of CW's early ones (for the TR), and the down-tail eagle is consitent with it. Sweatband looks original to the cap.

Price is a (relative) bargain. Yes, Brian does have some "exciting" prices, but at shows he will bargain (catch him on a Sunday).
