Km Shirmmutze

Just picked up this U-Boat Shirmmuzte belonging to Ernst Lutze U-591. This cap looks like it's had a field upgrade with the scalloped brass riveted to the visor.
U-591 was lost 30-07-43 off the coast of Brazil.

Very good looking and special cap. I wonder why owner didnt wear this cool hat the day he went down/died with u-591 (that would be a shame though)

No name inside the white top (but I'll take another look)...

Manse..not sure what the cap was sitting on but I'll find out...these pics were taken by the original owner

Steiner....Lutz survived the sinking of U-591 and went into captivity. I'd guess this cap was a field promotion on an earlier patrol
