Interesting example, which from the pictures could possibly be an Original Private purchase (perhaps more M43 than actual mountain) hat. Very Rare insignia IF Original (cannot tell from the picture).

Nice looking mid-war private purchase officer's Bergmütze made out of whipcord material. It would look nice with my whipcord GJ Hauptmann's Tunic!

cap looks like a "transition" or hybrid, and original.

- I doubt anyway that many cmdng. officers would disallow use of an M43 with "T" insignia and edelweiss. these were combat troops, and in Die Gebirge, who the he@@ cared?

These are tough to authenticate from photos but I like what I see. I had a similiar one that was very salty and bleached almost white on the exposed areas.
