    My well used cap needs your identification and opion please.

    Your considered opinion and references would be appreciated for this cap which was brought back by a 9th US Army private when he returned to the US in August 1945. He had served in France, Belgium and Germany 1944-5. His family said he never spoke of the war. There are four pictures you may see in my album file in case not all load here.

      I see the manufacturers markings are only faintly visible inside the cap. From known examples are you able to determine what the complete original markings were? Also, were POW's ordered to remove the eagle and swastika as happened with this one?

        It is my to the best of my knowledge that any insignia with a swastika, SS runes and rank were to be removed from POWs by US forces. I don't know other Allies policy. There is/was a cap removed DAK eagle on the E Stand that would be perfect for the restoration of this good looking cap.
