Now I'm thinking you have an original cap that's been re-lined. Tough one without a hands on.

Are the runes embossed onto the diamond or the lining?

The difference was all internal with the sonderanfertigung model having a cream sillk lining and a higher quality sheepskin sweatband.

            Derek,

Thank you for posting this as that is specifically the typoe of information I wanted to see regarding a custom interior. Was ther upgraded exterior insignia that one could have ordered for these visors?

Ben, I think your on to something here, but the question is when.

AF, the image is good enough to show that there are stitches where they are supposed to be. The comfort level for me is up another notch.

Some time ago I had a W-SS visor that took me a lot of hours to take apart without taking it apart physically to insure my first gut reaction (I am reffering to another example, not this EM/NCO visor here) of when the visor came out of its shipping box was that it was not original.

I had to do this several times before I found an original visor over a multiple years period and from those experiences I found out that the small details either make or break these visors that could be parts produced from components that were left over materials and filled in with later post war produced parts.

Some of the work was so good that it made me wonder if the people that assembled the visors were so young then and today using what they learned in a cottage inductry to provide a little extra income on the side to their pension. Of course this would put someone in the mid to late 70's and early 80's today.

So my first reaction when I saw the interior was what it was. Lastly, it is really difficult with images on the net sometimes and in conclusion the clincher here is now for me regarding the gold insignia and size of it, and perhaps that is part what is throwing me off.

              odd

Hat looks real with oddball lining. Could be fine, needs a hands on.

Has anyone ever seen an original with the runes embossed on the diamond rather than the lining?

                    Are you sure?

How about Stonemint's post yesterday (#33) of the Fewegla (RZM 27) cap?

Are these runes not embossed on the shield?

Or is this cap suspect as well?

                    Just asking.

This cap has extensive further input on the WR forum, for those interested.

Else, I attach the 360 degree pics:

Frog, can I ask you something and I honestly don't mean to be rude but what do you think about it? You've got it in your hands after all. This thread could go around and around with different people seeing different things in the photos that might or might not concern them. It's all just conjecture really though. You need to dig around in this cap and satisfy yourself that it's all authentic. If you're not comfortable with that, send it to someone with more experience of what to look for.
