    Crusher pics

Great pictures. I must say I do like Ben's theory about the PK crushers being a step above the usual field worn crushers, but we'll probably never know for sure. Either way, both styles have a great look about them.

Many years ago I received two infantry crushers from the same family.
One had been worn in the field and the other was saved in a closet.

Both were early style and the worn cap was folded completely flat like an overseas cap.

I have an SS officer's crusher that was stored (in Germany) under stacks of linen in a trunk for over 50 years....probably since before the war even ended! It was sent to me in a magazine shipping envelope!

It was stored flat as a pancake and also folded in half.....that is visor foward edge folded over the rear edge of the cap top. It has some creases and a few little bug nips but is otherwise minty......the owner never having the chance to get this spare one into the field to be lost/destroyed.

Phil, I would love to see that one. Jacques

There was a killer Schelly Pz visor at the 2008 SOS that wasn't a crusher technically, but was also flat as a pancake, and is currently owned by a member of this forum. I had a Schelly Pz of my own, so I didn't buy it. There was no doubt in my mind that the original PZ officer treated the hat as a crusher....

Glenn, you know how much I love that hat--so much, in fact, that I was temped to sit on mine to make it look like yours!....

Ben, it was an "original" joke, not a reproduced joke.....the crusher carrier that is.

Nice photos. I'd love to see that tunic on the right in the above photo critiqued here on WAF as an actual item posted!
