Here is a very tired and worn Heer side-cap, or overseas hat. As you will see there is a large cockade on the front, along with a shadow from an army eagle and the remanis of a red waffenfarbe soutache. The evidence of previous insignia suggest that the cap had a "previous life", prior to issue to a foreign volunteer. The liner is stamped with Ost. Ausb.Regt.Mitte and there is a red and white ribbon sewn to the left upper side. Does anybody know the significance of the stamp or the ribbon? (Assuming that either are original and genuine!) ?
