I am sure there were many types of grommets used during the war by German cap makers. I find it odd that it bothers so many collectors. To each his own

This isn't a comment for or against. I have never seen a panzer cap EM or officer with such tall side flaps. It looks as though they are even over the vent hole. Maybe a style ordered special to someone's personal taste? Has anyone seen this in photographs? Also the front scallop with piping does not seem to come down as far in front. Just curious...

I had a camo m40 with same washers and I think it was a good one. I like the insignia but not the way it's applied. Its hard to really tell with pics. Officer piping definatly looks recently added because fold is very new looking. Inside doesnt look like officer quality so "perhaps" it was an upgrade..Comment
