    Tropical Cap Cockade help

I bought this ages ago and was just about to sew it on a cap but after looking closely, I now have doubts.
How does it look to you guys?

      Ben,
I do like the application of the National Colours to the base material as this is how my originals look. I'm not too sure about the actual base material though as the weave seems a little different to the cockades I have both on and off caps. It may just be the photograph that you've provided. Perhaps the attached picture will help for comparison purposes.

Here are two cap removed examples which will hopefully help a little.

Here's the reverse of these two originals showing what I like about the application of your National Colours Ben.

            Hi Ben,

it is 1,000,000,000,001 % ORIGINAL. Mostly found on 1943 year of production.

Having looked at yours again I'm sure that it is fine and my hesitation about the base material appears to be how the light hits the right hand side making the weave look different. I'm sure that it is the same as the three examples that I've shown.

Hi Mark, it's the base material that concerns me as well. It's very synthetic in look and feel. It won't be going on the cap, that's for sure, it just doesn't look right compared to the eagle I've just put on.

That is one good looking cap Ben. Any chance of some more pics of it?
You're right about how it looks. I would definitely wait for an earlier, well worn example for the cap. They are hard to come by but I'm sure that you'll find one.

P.S. The pic of the cockade with the cap is much better than the individual pics that you showed above. It clearly has the right weave in that shot.

                    Hi BenVk
One kind is the style most often seen on earlier caps and when not used are on a small square of ribbon like mark shows.. the style you show is of the later variety for 43 44 date caps and are made on a continuous smaller waste nothing ribbon as Tony correctly states ...exactly as you have..If you need it for soutache resto its not the correct one.. I will agree with Mark, his great examples are the way to go with your cap!

I didn't realise there were 2 types of these guys, thanks for that!

Yep, this is the cap without grommets but with evidence of a lime green soutache.

                            Tony,
Unfortunately for Ben the one on the right is waiting to go onto this cap.
