    My first Infantry crusher

These past couple of years, I was never able to find an "ordinary" Infantry crusher that was right for me anywhere (except for a really moth eaten example which I had originally bought to have the insignia and decided to leave it the way it is).

Totally unexpected now, I received this beauty yesterday. I am showing it for two reasons. First of all, I think that crushers aren't shown and analyzed enough and the WAF is the best platform to learn about these. Therefore, any crusher should be posted in my opinion.

Secondly, I am uncertain if I should try a restoration on this or leave it as it is. What you see here is an entirely untouched cap that was sitting on a shelf for 60+ years --- however, the visor is very lose and the sweatband isn't too stable either. After a restoration, it would have been played with... wouldn't you agree? Opinions are welcome...

Congratulations Kurt, I too just got my first crusher a few months ago. I would try to get a few stitches (with period thread) in the peak just to stabilize it. I would consider this preservation rather then altering the piece.

Nice original Alter Art cap. A cap like this needs to have work done on it to stop the deterioration process getting worse. It's not "messing" with it, it's preserving it.

Kurt, I can help with repairs if you would like.
