    Reichsbahn / Kriegsmarine Visor

Ok.......Time for me to cash in on a favor here.

Somewhat of an oxymoron, this Reichsbah / Marine cap was purchased recently by myself from a highly recommend member Michael / WVDparis

I bought it under the pretense that it is a highly unusual variation of railway headgear perhaps even an administration variation. I do not nor did I believe this to be affiliated to the Kriegsmarine although all outward appearances would dictate that could be presumed.

I would like to reserve my concerns / comments for fear of tainting the jury pool but nonetheless I want to be 100% certain before permanently retaining this unusual piece of headgear.

So, I ask my fellow students and professors of TR headgear if this is indeed of the period.

    Many, many thanks in advance

              final.

The interior support backing is untreated cardboard. Mohair band is non removable. The visor edge trimming is not leather but rather a synthetic material

Personally, I like it. Drechsler is a legit TR maker, and that is their logo. I would agree with Michel, it does appear to be some sort of water-way related DRB visor, as of yet unreferenced. Perhaps a pre-war High-Seas Ferry Service visor?

BTW, the felt is commonly found on civil visors.

Hi and thanks STONEMINT for comments,

I am not a speciatlist of the "Marine" caps, but this cap was obtained out of the collecting market then I am pretty confident with this..

                    - about "Dreschler", as told by STONEMINT this one is a legit War time manufaturer (already seen on other wartime visors) and it seems he ended his activity before the end of the war.
his successor signed his cap explainig he was his successor (Fg=Folgend ?)
Here is is label on what seems to be a late war tramway visor I had in the past

                    - the "Reichsbahndirektion München" was renamed shortly after the war as "Eisenbahndirektion München" before being "Bundesbahndirektion München"

About the purpose... I don't know. The cap match the regulation for the "Schiffahr Reichsbahn" (Maritime railway) but not the insignias.

                    - a non regulation cap ?
                    - a maritim reichsbahn cap reused after the owner goes in regular railway ?

After the war in DDR the locomotiv & "Heitzer" worn a Black Felt or leather visor, I found no regulation on them but can it be a locomotiv driver cap ?

as told from now, unknown purpose...

As told to Ron, no problem if he don't feel comfortable with this unusual visor, I'll take it back w/o problems...

                    Michael
