    question on ss fez

    Hi
I would appreciate it if someone could tell me,Were the insignia on a ss fez ever applied with zig zag stitching?
    Cheers

The ones I've seen have had straight stitching, black outside and red inside. That doesn't necessarily mean zig-zag is wrong though.

That's just on the red fez. On the green ones the stitching is black on black. I can't recall ever seeing zig-zag myself.

        Fez

I would say that straight stitching is the norm, but if the insignia is correct and there is no evidence of straight stitching being removed, it should be OK. Remember, 99% of the value of a fez is the bevo eagle and skull any way.

I remember to have seen one, was offered to me time ago.
Insignia was applied with zig zag stitching, I remember to have sent detailed pictures to Gary wood, looked good but I passed on it for this reason.

On the red fez, the stitching, on the interior can be black as well as red. I have had many, from US 45th Division vets that thad them both ways.

On all the standard issue type fezzes I have seen, the stitch is straight and not a zig-zag.
