Ebay seller says wartime I say post, help

    Hello all,

I am in a debate with an ebay seller over this visor cap. It was sold as a wartime piece, howevewr. I believe it is post war based on the "Ce Ha Prima, Carl Halfar" makers mark, the plastic visor, and the band is 3.5 cm rahter than 4.3 cm. The sweat band is stamped BTH - 1942 on the inside, I could not get a good picture of it. Please, look at these pictures and tell me if I am wrong.

What would be a fair price for a post war cap? I think this is an interesting piece for what it is. I have offered to buy it from the seller as a post war piece but not for a wartime price. So far he has essentially said "caveat emptor," and I am looking for facts to bolster my case.

    Thanks for your help.

Looks like early Bundesluftwaffe to me, which is still a very nice hat missing from my collection.

Bob is correct--is is a post-war BRD Luft Officers visor with the sweatdiamond removed. Easiest way to tell these are the bands--the striping is wider and flatter than the Third Reich LW visors.

And by the way, any time you see "Carl Halfar" with the Ce Ha Prima logo, it is postwar. During wartime, they only used "Ce Ha Prima".

Agree - Nice early Bundesluftwaffe cap. Not many floating around because most have been sold as wartime, with added wartime insignia. The General's version with gold piping is especially hard to find now. I'm guessing this one to be in the $100 area.

I have been trying to find the early Bundesluft officer and general's hats for several years, with no success. Any suggestions on a source?

Thanks, everyone. I agree it is a very nice hat and compliments the early BL field grade visor I have. I offered the seller $180 which I thought was more than fair. As to where you find them. The field grade came with the owners cased 1957 RK, which I plan on posting pics of in the 57 Awards thread. And this one was being sold as wartime. After I showed this to a friend he told me the irony of it is I would never find one if I was looking for one.

Thanks again for your help. Now to re-engage the seller.

                  Mr Hritz,

I have three bags of Bundeswehr visors. They came with a collection I bought, but I have absolutely zero interest in this time period. I will rummage through the bags and see what might be of interest to you.

                  Best regards,
                  Pat

                      Is this a similar hat?

THIS IS AN ALBERT KEMPF 1991. I have a much earlier one, but its also silver, not gold. I started looking for generals hats after the wall went down, and they are tough to find. Hope you get one, but they are now tougher than some of the ww2 ones to find.
