    Help required please

Hopefully somebody can help me out with a hat i have. i am trying to find out what type of hat it is and who would have one this type.
I received this many years ago from my Grandfather and do not know the exact details of where he got it apart from knowing he served during the war and was one of his souveniers that he brought back with him.
    Any help appreciated.

also, how do i post an attachment to show the hat??

Hi Graham, first of all welcome to the forum
I have had a look at the pics that Nick has posted upon your behalf. I know the pics are not great, but here goes. I have serious doubts about the originality of the cap. I suspect that your Grandad may have picked the cap up many years after the war, possibly in the late 1970s or 1980's at a guess? It would appear to have a reproduction Heer Panzer trapzoid insignia sew onto it. The wreath is very oversized on the swastika. This insignia was designed for the Einheitsfeldmutze (the so called "M43 cap"). It was not used on the earlier M34 feldmutze. The cap itself is not a Heer Panzer cap, as the cut of the flaps is incorrect. The cap looks like a post war Bundesheer cap with incorrectly applied insignia.
              Hope this helps you?
              Cheers, Ade.
