"Where have all the Halfar's gone ? "
Well one explanation might be that he stopped putting his name and factory description on them in line with the regulations of the time and just put a size only.
We are certainly starting to see quite a few more examples with that "soft T-shirt" type lining to quote Gerard. Nice looking caps too from what I can tell via a computer image only appraisal.
You know, I am starting to think that I just might be on to something here and my Halfar could in fact be the real deal.
Many thanks to those who are posting images of their caps and please keep the caps/ Halfar's coming,
Chris

Ben,
Those white cotton gloves are plentiful in most museums. I prefer to handle my items with bare hands thus adding age and wear to them...just kidding.
I think we should all go to white gloves from now on when showing our items, it helps hide dirty fingernails too. I am in full compliance.

I too share you sentiment on this one and this thread has proved interesting/ informative in more than one respect.
The challenge now is one of the toughest in this field of collecting;
those who do not believe in the "Carl Halfar" Panzer M43 caps feel stronger than ever that they are right in their belief and in all fairness to those in this camp, the production of a Carl Halfar M43 has not been proved beyond a reasonable doubt.
but what has been achieved here, these caps were considered a cheap fake and laughed at. Now the seeds of question have been planted. A good example of this would be the wool the cap is made of, this was dimissed as not even close when in fact it is exact. Other points such as the cut, stitching and even the liner are closer than some would like to admit.
The makers stamp however remains an un-explained mystery and I agree also hard to explain
but the biggest thing held against these caps is how they were found and who found the majority of them. This plus the fact the an example has not turned up from a veteran source in what is an accepted collectors hands. The fact of how the caps were found does not prove conclusively however that they are fake but it does raise questions which justify investigation
The cap now lingers in a Twilight zone until those who say yes or those who say no can prove more.
Will such proof ever be found ? Who knows may-be or may-be not but this cap which has been dismissed so quickly in the past as bad certainly shapes up a lot closer to the real deal than some had first realised. Close enough in fact to be real and of pre-May 45 manufacture.
I leave it here unless some one has those missing bits of the puzzle,
Chris
p.s. my study of all Halfar caps continues and I support your idea that we should continue to post images of our examples.

I think that's bang out or order Jacques. Many people have worked damn hard at researching into these caps, not least Chris who has IMO kept an open mind to all possibilities when he could have quite rightly just said "I like my Halfar cap and sod the rest of you" What you've failed to understand as well is that a lot this work has been on your behalf, to try and get definitive evidence on your cap, good or bad.

Ben , no one is saying this has not thoroughly been looked at , but to imply that after all the information has been gathered and looked at, that the jury is still out is laughable. A lot of very, very knowledgeable people has looked at this cap and other presented, on this thread and hands on, and not a single has any doubt that it is a fake. Still one single individual still blows smoke about it.
It is like a single person insisting that a rounder RK is original, everyone else disagree. Does that mean the question on the rounder has not been laid to rest, because of the opinion of one individual. This also seems to be a clear trend with Chris, who disagree on everything and then debate it ad nauseam. It gets tiring.Jacques
