    SS Officer visor cap

A friend has asked me about this cap, but as this is not my field I would like to hear your opinions about it.

    Thanks in advance.

Well the parts and materials are certainly beyond any shadow of a doubt Schellenberg. Now the trick is to find out if the cap is in its original configuration. Not enough from the photos to be certain of anything. In hand I could tell you in 2 seconds. I know Schellenberg construction like the back of my hand. If you can get a shot under the lining so I can see how the peak stiffiner is constructed that would be great. I am certainly not in love with the way the lining is sitting.

I suspect an army rebuild. Not keen on the velvet band or the messed with lining. Insignia are obvious copies.

Thanks Nick , I will ask for a shout under the lining where you can see the how peak stiffiner is constructed.

In post 4, it seems the thread does not share the staining of the lining material it is sewn to where there is discoloration - not anything damning, but worth looking at.

Im no big expert, but to me the outline of the eagle looks to be a Heer eagle`s outline...what you guys think ?

                      Cheers, Les.

Plenty of photos exist of Waffen-SS caps with Heer eagles. Is it me or doesn't the visor stitching miss some of the holes ?
