EM M34 Infantry cap opinions, Jancke?

Hi fellow collectors. Today I was offered a very nice looking EM M34 cap with white soutache. I want to know what your opinions are. The cap is in very nice condition. The wool is feels a little thick. Inside is a stamp which says Otto Schlientz, Straubing.

I checked this maker and herr Schlientz was know to make political caps. According to Gary Wilkins no military caps with this maker mark are identified. Mr. Wilkins included Otto Schlientz in his book because the maker mark dies of Schlients may be in the possesion of the Jancke firm. Jancke uses this mark on his military caps.

I was wondering if this cap is a Jancke or that we have here a very rare cap!!! Look to the strange way the soutache is applied. It goes through the seam but it stays in the seam.

I am curious what you think about it!!!

          The sides and the back.

Is the back a little off center?

                Hi Volkbert,

As far as I can see, there's nothing wrong with this cap. Looks totaly genuine to me.

                Anyone else ?

                      Hi Volkbert
this cap checks out in every way apart from the origins of the maker but its hard to know for absolute certain if this manufacturer never made military caps . If it came my way I would take a chance and buy it.

Sean thanks for your answer. Do you know how a Jancke M34 looks like? Is it different than this one?

                          Hi Volkbert.

Nr.1 What is the asking price?

Here is my thoughts: Always be carfull when buying caps in this good condition.
Offcourse there is good one's but the "fakers" often use original insignia and wool nowadays. I posted 1 cap not long time ago. That was scary, no?
Im glad Peter helped me with that one. The only give away was the marking...

So if you ask me when buying a cap in this condition you need a good source.
                          AND well known maker mark..

I dont really like this cap anyway. There is nothing that screams 100% FAKE. But I think the overall work is to bad for an early cap like this.

If the price is very low then take a chance? But I think I had stayaway from this one. It's money anyway and dont buy items your not 100% sure about.
It will only give you headache, trust me

Just my thoughts: Warmest regards and say HI to your son from me

                            Hi Volkbert
The last Janke caps I handled were in the 1980s so unless they have changed since this is what I remember about them .The difference was a TAN (not grey) cotton twill lining of very high quality, wool cloth very fuzzy very high grade ( I Hear people are shaving this wool with a razor to reduce the knap) the soutache was the correct looking russia braid but of synthetic fiber that melts when burnt , no insignia was applied so once again any additional sewing should be checked for synthetic tread. and as usual with Janke stuff the tayloring is of a higher standard than most period items

Hope this is of some help

Thanks for your replies guys! The asking price is €325,- so I am very carefull because I think it's alot of money.

I decided to pass on this one and look for a cap which is a little used. A cap that has been there. It gives me a better feeling.

Hasse, greetings back to your little boy
