Looks to be a nice example. National emblem is definitely OK IMO. Don't know what to make of the fishy though, no experience with these although every KM cap seems to have them these days.

colt45;My picture of the eagle was not great, and did not show all the detail real well.It is an original, officers flatwire eagle. Here are a couple better shots for you.

Mike; Thanks for looking at my KM cap.I agree with you,it is a very nice example with rare flatwire insignia. As to the fish,it looks good to me but hard to say 100%.

Billbert; Thanks for the info.I think my KM cap is one of the nicer examples I have seen.I find it to be a fairly rare piece of headgear.

                                Hello

Hello The side cap it self raises me no problem but the emblem should be painted and to have still beautiful colors because the side cap is mint.

The officer should have made sew a painted emblem at the same time as he It received the side cap.

Personally I am about certain that the badge was then added to give more interest to this cap

The Laughing Sawfish - 9th Flotilla
One of the more famous emblems, this became the emblem of the 9th Flotilla in Brest, one the most active combat units of the war. Thus is was seen on many boats, most notably U-96 and became famous in the movie Das Boot. Originally it was green but somehow the Red version has become much more famous and many people have never seen the green one.
