EREL sailor cap

Hello all, have you seen this sailor cap?, for me is the fist time for an Erel made sailor cap. What do you think about it?.

Hi Eduardo,

this is a good point. There doesn't seem to be anything about the cap that would give it creedance as a Privat klasse offering from erel.

I suppose we could say that the cloth is of Private klasse etc, but I see it is fitted with a stirnschutz sweatband, which is of the rough quality of a lot of the late stuff.

Questions will be asked of this type of cap having a nice comfort type sweatband etc and why not, the owner could have spent money on it.

I would not want it for the following reason (s).

It is a top of the tree cap in construction, (a holy grail example of this type to some people) but is it really made by erel or a cap made from parts of erel's and an iffy sweatshield. The cap is mint although the printing is all smudged.

That is enough reasoning for me to not be interested.

Someone will buy it, they may have a job selling later on.

Hello Eduardo,never seen one.I do not know if erel ever made this kind of hats.
From the pics everyting seems to be original,but I would like to have in hands or to see some good photos under the sweatband.

I agree that from the pics everyting seems to be original, late war manofacture. I would like to make a hand inspection also. I hope that Erel experts could tell us something about this rare piece.

I remembered yesterday what is wrong with this cap, but couldn't get to a PC.

I thought these type of caps were other ranks.

Why does it have OKK markings?

The OKK was the Kreigsmarine officer clothing store, so why is it on one of these caps?

I say FAKKKKKEEEEEE christmas tree piece.

You are absolutly right JT, not a good invesment IMO.

Looks like the late war made cap, but there are many problems with it.

Why a sailor cap from the officer clothing store as you have said.

The OKK shield is not good IMO. All KM Erel caps that I have seen with blue lining have not the OKK stamp, and only the Erel logo. On removed tops caps the OKK label is as you have shown.

This one is for sell now in ebay, and the Erel-OKK shield looks very similar to the sailor cap that started this thread, isn't it?

Well spotted Eduardo, it seems that a load of these will probably surface now. I expect to see some at our UK shows soon.

The second one sure looks like it has the "normal" Janke Sweatband fitted.

My question is this, is this a complete Janke reproduction cap or an original blue top fitted with a repro lining and sweatband? Peter is a very reputable seller (and a forum member I believe), he should be made aware of these concerns.
