    Manions "Visor Cap Special"

    Gentlemen,
    Has anyone else taken a look at Manions Visor Cap Special auction, ending on December 21st? There are only 3 Third Reich caps I believe; a Heer general's m34 cap, enlisted Herman Goring Div. peaked cap, and a Kriegsmarine Admin. officer's peaked cap. All appear suspect, at least to me, especially the general's. But what really surprised me are the prices currently attained for most of the other caps, many that are quite common, and easily picked up on Ebay, etc. Yet many are priced at 3-4 times their actual value, with over two weeks to go. Are these bidders that uninformed, are they overwhelmed with the number of caps for sale ?; I just don't understand.

        Sadly they keep throwing this crap out for the masses as they kinda know 1 Idiot will bite.THATS whats gives them the BAD Rep and Its Deserved by them if they keep it up.

          Guys, I'm going to go agains the grain on this one. I have noted that Manions has been trying over the past 1 1/2 years to weed out the fakes, and has been responsive to our criticisms. Andrew Tucker is actually a good guy, and has (upon our recommendation) removed and/or re-described the fakes that we called out (ie, the SS visor, the SA-Marine/Marine-NSKK).

          They have also had some good stuff--there was a minty Kreisleitung visor on their site, and I picked up a stonemint DRB visor a while ago at a bargain price. They also have some very high-end superfakes on their site, which they correctly place into the repro section.

          I can't speak for tunics, medals, etc, but I have noticed a distinct change in management, at least when it comes to visors. Their inventory seems to be increasing as well. Heck, I may even try selling some hats thru there.

            it would not be bad but they have people who know their stuff and they see it weeks before its gets listed...Thats what burns me...seems they dont want to listed to any critics until its almost too late.

              I wasnt commenting on them specifically just the mentality that comes with internet buyers and blind trust in any source??( ie I bought it in a store that deals with these items so they must be original right??WRONG!! )It would be great if the current regime could bring it back to the late 70 s and early 80s when truely most all of it was GOOD..JMHO Billbert

                Well I see your point and I too would think it would be great but In todays world. you get a bad vibe it goes 10 times further than it used to with Internet forums...WHo knows maybe they were Horrible back in the day as no one really had a solid way of letting everyone else know.

                    There are no fakes there for certain, the guy said SUSPICIOUS.

                    Manions does try to weed out the fakes, this is a fact.
