Opinions on Heer M38 OS Hat

    Hi WAF,

I'm interested in this M34 (not m38 sorry) Panzer Piped hat and I would like your feedback on it. All opinions welcome.

Last one. Over all it looks ok, but the lack of maker markings, the condition and the early eagle leaves me wondering? Also of note is the narrow re-enforcing sewing along the flap which is curious?

              Cheers, Steve

It is a repro in my opinion. Starting to see a lot of these.

                  Mike,

My gut feeling is telling me to beware. The things that make me wonder are the early eagle on a mint hat without maker markings. The narrow re-enforcement sewing is odd as well.

I borrowed this M34 hat from the estand to compare to the one I posted.

Follow your feelings. I think national emblem, its application, soutache, lack or markings, etc. are all indicators. Attached is a shot of a pre-war example to compare.

Agree with Mr Davis...I have seen a bunch of these as well. Always the same lining, single size stamp, machine sewn insignia, grommets etc.

Do anyone think that the eagle is original?
                            I donĀ“t think so.

This hat is a very good repro. I wonder if it looks as good in hand?

                              Thanks for your help guys.
