2 bad so far, my confidence level is falling. The rest need a "hands on" - at this point I start to think - "Send 20K to get a hands on?" - and start to consider collecting stamps, coins or butterflies. That's why drinking is such a good hobby - you never have to worry about authenticity.....

Re pricing on the general's visor

Perhaps the price is based on the "confidence factor" - is that why dealers erase the price right after it's sold? For example a general's cap goes for only 15K if I think it's real, 25K if at least half of the examiners like it, and 35K if everyone likes it, including my mother-in law.. Like I said before, I'm no expert on TR, but I know something about spending $25K on collectibles, and the ambiguity in these things is just too great. Even if I had 50 yers experience & could convince myself it was real, how could I know there is some like-minded individual out there when it comes time to sell?

Her boys let me through you a bone. The Alg has a ventilation tag on it. Can we see the air hole grommet? Surely it must have one since it is tagged for one.

Here is the A-SS General's visor, which was at the MAX and the SOS for $25,000 by the Doctor. You can see what NTZ is talking about:

What is that peeking out behind the eyes? Which "maker" is that a "trademark" of?:

Interior--yes, it is a rare foil tag, but unfortunately some nice, minty Erel WH cap was sacrificed to be resold as a product of the 4th Reich:

Eagle and skull are probably good, but not my area of specialization:

                  Stonemint,
I haven't been following this thread as closely as some.
Do you believe this is an Alteste cap rebuilt with an Erel inside?
                  Best,

FYI--I was asked how they get the sweatdiamond off when rebuilding a Franky. They don't--they merely eviscerate the entire lining off the donor cap and re-sew it in. Here is a lining off a cap:

Stony, it is just the way it was built. They went through the trouble to sew in a tag that states it has the ventilation system but forgot the ventilation system. These things happened all the time. That is what some would like you to believe. BTW, that is far from the only problem.
