NTZ--I know we did a thread on this hat or one exactly like it. If I recall correctly, the seam on the side of the S/B and the 1/2 hand-stitched sweatband are characteristic traits of this maker. The odd thing is an Armeemarinehaus selling diplo hats. I am going to see if I can find the thread.

Auctions

Auctions are something I usually avoid. You get Banged coming and going. It would take something pretty effing exciting to pull me into an Auction. Uh..this hat would not be it.

'If' the experts identified on Empire's site are, in fact, vetting these items then these gentlemen (presumably) would know what they are looking at, would they not? While one might not trust Craig (based upon threads I've seen here of some of his offerings) I would presume that Jeff Clark would've looked at this & he, I trust as knowing a thing or two.

Since I'm not familiar with this maker can you guys articulate what you see that may be questionable on this? (not that I'm going to bid - just that I'm interested in expanding what little knowledge I have.) What year would it (if authentic) have been made?

I am on double secret probation. To me the cap looks a lot like some of those 1980’s type fakes. If it were in hand I would have a better idea, as those were all top heavy. The ones I am thinking off all had the Deutsches Leder marked sweatbands. For as rare of a cap as this sould be we sure see a lot of unissued ones out there, don’t we?
