    DAK "Old Campaigner" Field Cap

    Hi Guys,

I've been wanting to share with you a cap I think you will find interesting. An early 1940 DAK Field Cap. made by Carl Halfar, 1940. You can see where the soutache was removed at some point. I purchased this many years ago from a grandson while stationed in Germany; along with his CT, a ring, and I think a paratroop book w/the camo cover.

Close-up of front. No evidence of being sewn through the lining. Also on the right side where the original soutache was removed, you can see the entry hole (the entry hole is also on the left side but more visble on the right. it looks like at some point it was re-marked or maybe thats dye residue after the soutache removed. looks like he was an engineer as it shows black.

Although a poor pic, you can still see Carl Haflar, street, size, 1940. It is a little more distinct - probably shouldn't have used flash. Note it is off-set and not centered.

In this pic you can see hole where the soutache was in. There is a similar hole on the other side, but not as visible. This is a poor shot - its very difficult to see.

                  Beautiful cap Jeff.
Any chance of replacing the photos with some clearer shots as the one's you've posted really aren't that good.

                  Kindest Regards

                    Hi Mark,

I know the pics are terrible. I will try - any in particular?

I don't need to see particular shots Jeff, it would just be so much better seeing this beautiful cap in clear pics.

                      Regards

                      Mark

BEAUTIFULL cap indeed. I just love those "bleeched" DAK caps. Prove that they've been there !!
Make the pics cleare and perhaps smaller. That would be nicer to look at.
